New York City is the place to be when it comes to spreading the holiday cheer.  While the city is a popular destination for tourists year round, there is nothing quite like the city around Christmas time.  From streets lit up with string lights and giant snowflakes to the best holiday shopping, there is certainly something for everyone.  If you’re planning your December trip, you’ve come to the right place.  Check out our top 5 ways to find holiday cheer in NYC.

Our NYC Top 5

  1. First stop, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular!

This is the most iconic Christmas event – or Spectacular, rather -- our city has to offer!  Radio City is home to the leggy and fierce line of Rockettes.  These ladies stand tall between 5’6” and 5’10 ½” and go through a strenuous two-day audition process to earn their spot.  Their precision is pristine and their look is iconic.  The dancing? INSANE. Also, did you know our founders Joey + Jackie once held a spot in the line? Just another reason this is a top holiday stop. #LOVE

  1. Take a stroll to see the Macy’s windows.

The windows at Macy’s are a classic favorite.  The Macy’s at Herald Square (151 W. 34th St) contain hand-crafted holiday window displays.  These displays have been constructed annually since the 1870s.  It’s a fun tradition for spectators, from tourists to New Yorkers alike.

  1. Visit the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

The Christmas Tree at The Rock  is erected following Thanksgiving, followed by a tree lighting broadcast with live performances.  You can visit the Rock and see the large Spruce towering close to 100ft! There are also light shows and film projections that take place in the evenings that will for sure get you in the holiday spirit.

  1. Go for an ice skate.

When winter weather starts to creep up, the ice skating rinks begin to pop up around the city.  Enjoy this fun winter activity under the tree at the Rock, or make a trip to Bryant Park for a little change of scenery.  The best part? Skate rentals are available for as low as $20.  Don’t forget the hot cocoa!

  1. Stop by the Jo+Jax store for some holiday shopping!

If you’re in the city, be sure to stop in at our shop down at 139 Fulton Street.  Our JJ specialists would love to help you find the perfect gift from our new line of dance apparel.  Come say hi!
