Dear Dad,
Happy Father’s Day! I love you so much and am grateful to have you as my dad. You may not always understand my crazy love for dance—the sparkly outfits, the loud music, the long competitions, and all the many, many classes. But I know you’re so proud to be my dance dad and you are always there to support me in everything I do. You have made a lot of sacrifices for me—especially when it comes to my dancing—and I want you to know that I appreciate every single one…
Dad, thank you for putting me in my first ballet class when I was just 3 years old. Thank you through sitting and watching my interpretive dance performances in the living room. Thank you for driving me to dance team rehearsals every week. Thank you for buying my first pair of pointe shoes. Thank you “woo-hoo-ing” for my team at my dance competitions. Thank you for taking me out for ice cream when I twisted my ankle. Thank you for filming my summer intensive audition video. Thank you for giving me sunflowers after my showcase. Thank you for agreeing to participate in the dads’ dance in our spring recital. And, most importantly, thank you for being my greatest cheerleader.
There is no greater feeling than knowing that you’re out in the audience while I’m up on stage. And there’s no way I would be there without you. Thank you, dance Dad. You’re the best!
Love,
Your daughter
