National Dance Day is an occasion for us to *officially* celebrate just how much we love dance!  Nigel Lithgow (Executive Producer of SYTYCD) created National Dance Day almost a decade ago in 2010, with a vision of a nation-wide celebration; where people of all ages, races, genders and experience levels could enjoy dance and move from their hearts.

Dance is one of the few and unique art forms that combines both physical exertion, discipline and creative expression.  National Dance Day was created to celebrate just how dynamic dance is!

National Dance Day- Saturday September 21st

This year marks a move of the official date of Nation Dance Day. While it used to be the last Saturday of July, we'll celebrate it on the third Saturday in September moving forward. So, why the date change?

Nigel told Dance Spirit that the date was changed in order to promote teaching and celebrating with grade school children during the academic year.  He also hoped that things would be a bit cooler for participants come mid-September.
